I finished my sweater!

It's wrong, but it's made of warm and so I don't care. The spots on the sides are supposed to be cabley but I read the chart wrong (fortunately I figured out my mistake so it won't happen again).

And it accentuates my boobs. I can't decide if I like that or not. At least it goes away when I undo the top button. Up next: ball-shaped penguins, loopy scarves, and glitterfied dance shoes!

Knitting--Not so bad, actually!

Doesn't that look like an owl? Yeah, that looks like an owl. There are some minor beginner flaws but overall I'm pretty psyched. I think I'll make myself a pair in cream.
Pattern from Ravelry here! If I can do it, you can too. Trust me.

Knitting/what the hell is going on here.

Crochet hooks are my friends.
Knitting needles are not.
Not at all. I hate them. I hate circular needles most of all. See that little brownish bit on the end close to the needle? That's where I burned the two pieces together after I cut off a large chunk of the wire because it was a hundred times too long. It's probably gonna fall apart midway through my knitting.
So I'm attempting to knit owl fingerless mittens for a good friend. Knitting, because crochet can't quite achieve the look that I'll get with knitting.
My mom has knitted for years. It's how she quit smoking when she was in her thirties. Right now, she's working on this gorgeous cabled lace hoodie for me and I know it's years of practice that enable her to do it so effortlessly but still, I thought I'd be on my way to animal-bedecked armwear by now. I'm still trying to get all the stitches to go around the circle.
At least I'm getting paid.
When I'm done, I'm gonna crochet myself a pity present.

Lamp Revamp

It's been awhile!

My grandmother gave me this lamp.
I'm totally a fan of free stuff...but...yikes. And then I realized I could fix it! Look!
I filled the mason jar with a shittonna seashells and then outlined the stitched pattern with sharpies and I magically have a brand new much better looking lamp. Still for free. And the round balls that used to be in the jar? Cat toys. Luna won't stop batting them around the loft. All I do is win.

DIY Starfish cuff!

I've been wanting to make this since forever! Got the idea from Dream, Create here.
You're gonna need silicone molding putty, polymer clay, a starfish, spray paint color of your choice, and a glass slightly smaller than your wrist. Mold the starfish, put clay in mold, wrap clay starfish around glass, bake at 275 for 15 minutes, decide to bake it for 7 more minutes just in case, burn yourself while removing starfish from glass due to impatience, spray paint starfish, and you're done!
In retrospect I wish I would've made the legs a bit longer so it would fit more securely. Also, this happened the first time I used the silicone putty.
Lesson learned: blend faster. Mold faster. Don't end up with a blob of useless bouncy stuff.

All materials were from Michael's. It would've cost me $17, but the girl at the cash register didn't add in my discount coupons correctly. $27...

Graduationpus!

Everybody loves these little octopi that I make. I wanted to make one for a friend who's graduating...tonight! And so I did. And I even gave him a cap, complete with tassel. I'm sure he'll be much loved.
Oh! And if by chance you happen upon this page, please don't credit this as your own.

DIY Nail Polish!

Whilst browsing Tumblr, I happened across this idea for DIY nail polish out of old eyeshadow found here: http://www.delightedmomma.com/2012/05/nails.html
 And I got this result:

I'm pretty satisfied. I used topcoat that cost me one dollar and some eyeshadow I've been dying to get rid of. I especially love the green and brown.

Officially a seamstress!

I found this adorable dress pattern on burdastyle and I just had to have it.
I've also never sewn anything before, with the exception of hemming jeans and converting old jeans into shorts. Never an article of clothing from scratch. But my momma has! So she'll be helping me start off. Tonight, I cut all the pieces. As I was doing so, this happened.

If I fits, I sits. And this is the perfect place for me to sit.
Thanks, Luna.

I shall start sewing tomorrow, hopefully. But not before I've cleaned something. Of course.
